Kent County features many coast recreation sites including state forests and parks. The City of Warwick forms a major portion of Kent County. Warwick is located 5 miles south of Rhode Island's capital city, Providence. Boston is 55 miles to the north and New York City is 175 miles to the southwest via interstate route 95.

One can travel easily to many attractions throughout southern New England because Warwick sits at the mid-point between Boston, MA, Martha's Vineyard and Cape Cod, Ledyard, Hartford, CT and Newport. The central location of Warwick in proximity to these major cities, as well as being the home of the region's principal airport has earned it the nickname "The Crossroads of Southern New England."

Rhode Island's principal destinations are its two original ports: well-heeled Newport, yachting capital of the world and Providence, the state capital.
The City of Newport is not only one of America's oldest cities, the community also has the distinction of having more original colonial period buildings than any other early American city.
Providence is the only U.S. city to be named one of the "Top Ten Up-and-Coming Travel Destinations" by the Wall Street Journal. With a thriving arts community, vibrant and diverse neighborhoods and a renowned restaurant scene, Providence is the perfect place to visit.
Block Island, about thirty miles south of Newport, has a very popular state beach.
